The Client

San Diego Comic-Con International is a multigenre entertainment and comic convention. Comic-Con International holds multiple shows and partners (WizardWorld) with companies to host Comic-Cons in New York, Anaheim, Toronto, and all over the United States.


The Ask

To develop a content strategy optimized for search marketing and to use social media to drive ticket sales to less popular events such as Columbus Comic-Con, Toronto Comic-Con, and New Orleans Comic-Con.

 We built a social experience through content on Facebook that led to a custom application allowing Facebook fans to buy tickets before they were on sale to the public. Users could then share the content before other users directly from the Comic-Con page.

 Local blogs, directories, and press outlets were contacted in advance to share Comic-Con related content and venue related topics. This gave the venue and our local event links which helped raise our Local SEO ranks to push traffic and ticket sales prior to the event.

An editorial calendar was developed to schedule interviews with celebrities, artists, and vendors. These video pieces were wrapped into articles to further the authority of digital properties and generate links and social interactions online. Videos were taken at each show to build the content base for the company and recruit more vendors and business opportunities.
