Social Media Marketing Updates Will Never End

Klout

Social media marketing updates are hourly and social media evolves constantly. Therefore if you’re going to get into social media marketing accept it always changes.

This article was going to be about how Klout scores recently have been updated to include Facebook pages, but upon writing the first paragraph I realized that updates like this are a dime a dozen. Sure they will help social media marketers currently evaluating their campaigns effectiveness, but social media marketing updates never seize. What then can social media directors do to evaluate which matter to them?

Campaigns are subjective and, though a majority of digital marketers look for social media marketing tips per campaign, they should be looking for knowledge they can ascertain for their professional growth. I think this is why when I meet certain people in this space they claim to be masters of Facebook and nothing else (which for the record sounds completely stupid so stop doing that).

Social media marketing updates and changes in SEO practices are just part of the game for many of us, but what some people don’t realize that are getting into this is that we’re used to the constant evolution of the space. Others are not. It turns them off and the majority of people (believe it or not) don’t like taking their work home with them.

Digital marketers have no choice but to become their work. Social media managers understand this space because they’re motivated to keep up to date with the new technologies. Social media marketing updates aren’t optional for them; they’re a requirement. They can’t find Pinterest at their leisure and experiement with Social SEO because it makes their posts more popular; they have to learn this because if effects their job performance.

If you want to get into social media you have to understand that social media marketing updates are not only endless – you’ll be expected to know all of them. With any career you need to be one step ahead. Now imagine everyone having access to everything at all hours of the day; able to create entire campaigns and content strategies with a few clicks. Think you can handle it?
